Friendship Public Charter School is the area's largest non-profit public school, serving nearly 8,000 students from pre-school to 12th grade, on ten campuses.  Friendship operates public charter and partnership schools with Baltimore City and DC Public Schools.  Since its inception in 1997, Friendship has enabled thousands of students in underserved communities to become serious achievers.   The Friendship Team proudly applies its unique educational model with winning results to improve academic performance, educate the "whole child," and offer families support services with the goal of preparing 100% of its students to enter and complete college.  Do you have what it takes to be part of our exceptional Team?   Friendship Public Charter School has a need for respectful, consistent and highly ethical substitute teachers. Friendship substitute teachers are responsible for delivering a rigorous curriculum in a nurturing and disciplined environment that result in high academic achievement. Substitute teachers maintain high expectations for student success regardless of the challenges faced through persistence and dedicated commitment to ensuring student learning. The teaching hours for all grade levels are generally 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. except for early student dismissal on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

FPCS contracts with a variety of volunteer groups in the District of Columbia, to recruit, screen, train, place and support volunteer academic mentors in the District of Columbia Public Schools. School volunteer programs are designed to provide ongoing support to students in grades K-12 during the school day and beyond. Our partners coordinates tutoring and mentoring programs in literacy, math, enrichment, MCAS preparation, career education, coaching and more.   If you are a teacher seeking a classroom volunteer, be sure to get the permission of your principal.
