Since our founding in 1997, we have grown to serve over 4,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12thgrade and we more than doubled the number of communities in which we are located. Friendship Public Charter School
As the nation's first multi-campus charter school, Friendship Public Charter School has been producing college-ready students for over 15 years. From Preschool through 12th grade, Friendship invests in providing a rigorous academic curriculum that enables our children to excel as ethical, literate, and well-rounded leaders in a 21st century economy. We surpass our peers across the District in public education with a 91% graduation and college entrance rate. To this end, we also hold the quality, success, and development of our teachers with paramount importance. We provide a number of professional growth and development opportunities which have yielded both the 2010 and 2011 DC Teachers of the Year, and three outstanding school principals who launched their careers in our classrooms.   The Special Education Coordinator (SEC) is responsible for organizing, facilitating, and supporting the Special Education Team's sharing of special education requirements both administrative and instructional. The SEC, like all Special Education teachers, is expected to exhibit the same skills, knowledge, and qualities required of the general classroom teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional responsibilities and relationships, family involvement, and school community.

As the nation's first multi-campus charter school, Friendship Public Charter School has been producing college-ready students for over 15 years. From Preschool through 12th grade, Friendship invests in providing a rigorous academic curriculum that enables our children to excel as ethical, literate, and well-rounded leaders in a 21st century economy.    The Dedicated Aide works with an instructional team consisting of the lead teacher, a special education teacher and/or paraprofessional. The dedicated aide – special education may work to support the program, ensuring consistency for identified children throughout the day. This individual provides individual instructional support for a child/children with Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) using intensive, research-based strategies under the direct supervision of the lead teacher.

FPCS contracts with a variety of volunteer groups in the District of Columbia, to recruit, screen, train, place and support volunteer academic mentors in the District of Columbia Public Schools. School volunteer programs are designed to provide ongoing support to students in grades K-12 during the school day and beyond. Our partners coordinates tutoring and mentoring programs in literacy, math, enrichment, MCAS preparation, career education, coaching and more.   If you are a teacher seeking a classroom volunteer, be sure to get the permission of your principal or headmaster.
