Overview

Friendship Public Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Associate Director of Mathematics to support the leadership and management of our mathematics program across all schools. This pivotal role involves overseeing curriculum implementation and development, supporting the implementation of proven teaching practices, designing math systems and tools, and contributing to an environment that nurtures a passion for mathematics among students. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics education and data analysis, experience in teacher support and professional development, and a commitment to educational equity and excellence. This position is hybrid with the flexibility to work remotely several days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Support: Assist in the development, evaluation, and refinement of K-12 mathematics curricula that are research-based and aligned with state and national standards.
  • Professional Development Help design and deliver professional development sessions for mathematics teachers that focus on pedagogical strategies, integration of technology, and classroom management to enhance student learning in mathematics.
  • Instructional Coaching: Provide coaching and mentoring to mathematics teachers, including classroom observations and feedback sessions, to promote effective teaching practices and student engagement.
  • Data Analysis and Use: Support the use of assessment data to inform instruction, monitor student progress, and identify areas for curriculum improvement.
  • Resource Coordination: Assist with the development and management of resources for the mathematics program, ensuring that materials and technologies are current, relevant, and effectively used in classrooms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in meetings with key stakeholders to communicate program goals, student progress, and ways to improve mathematics education.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties as assigned, including report writing, budget tracking, and coordination of meetings and events related to the mathematics program.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven results in delivering high levels of math achievement.
  • A minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in mathematics, with some experience in a leadership or mentoring role required.
  • Knowledge of current mathematics educational trends, curriculum standards, and effective assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other educational stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to make informed decisions regarding instructional practices and interventions.
