Friendship Public Charter School operates a thriving network of college preparatory public charter schools. Headquartered in Washington, DC., Friendship serves over 4,800 students in preschool to grade 12 and guides a growing network of alumni to college completion annually. Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical and current financial data to understand the company’s financial status
  • Track current financial data to alert stakeholders in case of deviation
  • Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation
  • Develop predictive financial models to support organizational decision-making
  • Analyze processes to identify areas in which greater efficiency can be realized
  • Study industry-specific research, best-in-class practices and available data to predict trends and help inform leadership decision-making
  • Create reports that enable management teams to make strategic decisions to meet organizational goals, including annual business plan and rolling plan, variance analysis of actual versus forecast and reconciliation of internal accounts
  • Assist in month end, quarter end and year end closing process, ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP
  • Participate in annual budget process and cost saving activities in cooperation with finance team members and department heads
  • Provide important business information and support ad-hoc reports as directed by management
  • Develop forecasting tools to automate financial data analysis

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in finance, economics or statistics, master’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience working as a financial analyst
  • Proven proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and financial software applications
  • Excellent reporting, data visualization, presenting and communication skills
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to work with large datasets
  • Strategic thinking and organizational skills
  • Proven analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, information analysis and financial diagnosis preferred
