Overview

As the Associate Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)- Math, you will lead and support the development of a district-wide MTSS-Math program that supports the whole child. You will be responsible for collaborating closely with building administrators, educators, support staff, families, and students to establish and implement a tiered framework that uses data to meet the needs of each and every student through academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions. You will provide guidance across the district to ensure that research-based MTSS strategies, interventions, and systems are in place to support student achievement. You will work in collaboration with and under close supervision of Friendship’s district lead for math, the Deputy Director of Math. Together, you will be responsible for ensuring Friendship’s vision for math instruction and high goals for student progress in math are fulfilled.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a district-wide MTSS implementation plan for Math aligned with the Deputy Director’s Math vision for MTSS including developing student growth plans. 
  • Based on needs assessment, oversee the development of Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention protocols, problem-solving processes, data-based decision-making, progress monitoring, and communication and collaboration processes among Student Support Teams.
  • Develop training schedules and provide ongoing coaching, modeling and support for leadership teams, staff, and teachers on the MTSS framework and research-based practices for tiered intervention in Math.
  • Implement an MTSS intervention management system and partner with school sites to ensure effective data collection, data analysis, and program evaluation and efficacy.
  • Oversee re-assessments and provide intervention strategies and support to schools based on data.
  • Meet bi-monthly with each campus to share the progress of students on selected interventions and assessments through data collection and analysis. 
  • Partner with community organizations, government agencies, out-of-school programs, and families to ensure availability of resources for school sites.
  • Serve as district manager of summer programming around MTSS supports for students in Math. 
  • Provide strategic support around tiered instruction priorities across the district
  • Communicates weekly with Deputy Director of Math and team regarding student progress and results
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; MA degree in math, education, educational administration or related field preferred
  • Extensive experience and a proven track record of success as a math educator and math leader in a K-12 setting under the Common Core State Standards
  • Math Content Knowledge for K-8 or 6-12
  • Deep expertise in math instruction and best practices that develop math proficiency among students
  • Knowledge of the MTSS framework, Universal Design for Learning, positive behavior interventions, and response to intervention (RTI)
  • Ability to provide leadership and manage complex projects
  • Ability to facilitate change management within individuals, teams, and organizations, including implementing professional learning for adult learners and staff development
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvement
  • Proactive in addressing needs and problem-solving
  • Expertise in Google Docs and Sheets
  • Commitment to working with students from marginalized communities through an asset-based mindset and approach.
