*Please note this position pays $35 - $75 per hour based on relevant experience and education.

 

Additionally, the position is in-person in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day management of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summer Camp for high school students. To take specific responsibility for the camp design, management, organization and running of the summer camp to ensure that students are provided with high quality and meaningful activities and experiences which meets the guidelines of positive youth development.

Main Purpose
To work with all stakeholders to ensure that a caring and stimulating environment is provided for students that takes into account individual development needs and enables children and youth to reach their full potential.

 

The responsibilities of the camp instructor include:

  • Mentor students to make an AI product from the start to the finish
  • Lead students to design, code, and publish an AI application that people can use.
  • Demystify AI for high school students
  • Provide hands-on teaching on subjects such as Python and Deep Learning
  • planning and preparing exciting AI projects and activities that meet the student’s developmental needs and stimulate their engagement in learning.
  • To assist in the transition of students immediately after Summer Learning Academy, before and after dinner, and at the end of the day.
  • To ensure all reports and attendance are kept up to date and adhered to.
  • To establish and maintain positive relationships with students and their families in a way that values parental involvement.
  • To observe and assess student’s academic development and keep accurate records of their achievements.
  • To provide a service that respects student’s life experiences and celebrates diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race and religion.
  • To assist in reviewing and implementing policies and procedures of the setting to ensure equality of access for students and families.
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post with regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • To act as an ambassador for the organization and maintain a positive image of its aims and work.
  • To carry out any other duties this will be seen to enhance the work of the organization

Qualifications

  • Strong Python knowledge
  • Fundamental knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning
  • Commitment to providing a world-class education to students from historically underserved communities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
