Friendship Public Charter Schools is a thriving network of college preparatory public charter schools. Headquartered in Washington, DC, Friendship serves over 4,000 students in preschool to grade 12 and guides a growing network of alumni to college completion annually. 80% of students come from low-income households. 98% are African American or Latino. The mission of Friendship Public Charter School is to prepare students to become ethical, literate, well-rounded and self-sufficient citizens by providing a world-class education that motivates students to reach high academic standards, to enjoy learning, to achieve success, and to contribute actively to their communities.

 

Responsibilities

Excellent Teaching & Learning

  • Demonstrate continued mastery of content areas
  • Lead students to high levels of academic success through rigorous, targeted, and differentiated instruction
  • Design and deliver engaging instruction addressing a full range of student needs and learning styles
  • Utilize literacy strategies across all content areas
  • Develop formal and informal assessments to measure student mastery
  • Use data to drive instruction

  • Hold students accountable to high academic and behavioral expectations
  • Align practices and routines to an achievement-oriented classroom culture

Qualifications

  • Commitment to providing a world-class education to students from historically underserved communities
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.  Master’s degree preferred
  • 2+  years urban teaching experience leading significant academic gains for students strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above preferred
  • Successful completion of the Praxis II Exam and/or Highly Qualified to teach in Washington, D.C.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
